Five x No. 1 New York Times best-selling author, Brené Brown to visit Australia
Leading Australian business events provider, The Growth Faculty, will bring leadership phenomenon, Brené Brown to Australia for two exclusive half day seminars in 2019 to cultivate courageous leadership across corporate Australia.
Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and the author of five No. 1 New York Times best-selling books. She has spent the last 20 years studying courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy and the last seven years focusing on courageous leadership. Her new book, Dare to Lead reveals that courage is a collection of four skill sets that can be taught, observed, and measured.
Brown’s latest research included 150 interviews with C Suite executives across a range of industries; from Fortune Tens to community organisers. It revealed that in a complex, rapidly changing environment with an insatiable demand for innovation, one thing is clear: we need braver leaders and more courageous cultures.
Brown writes, “The skill sets that make up courage are not new; they’ve been aspirational leadership skills for as long as there have been leaders. Yet we haven’t made great progress in developing these skills in leaders, because we don’t dig into the humanity of this work – it’s too messy. It’s much easier to talk about what we want and need than it is to talk about the fears, feelings, and scarcity that get in the way of achieving all of it. Basically, and perhaps ironically, we don’t have the courage for real talk about courage. But it’s time.”
In these special half-day seminars Brown will share her skills-based, data driven, immediately actionable playbook for developing brave leaders and courageous cultures in corporate Australia. The seminars will explore:
The four skill sets that underpin courage
The ten cultural barriers to courageous leadership
The difference between armored leadership and daring leadership
Why curiosity and grounded confidence are at the heart of brave work and tough conversations
“Brené’s dedication to living in a world with braver and bolder leaders is inspiring. Her reputation as a speaker is built on her ability to unwrap difficult topics and complex challenges with honesty and warmth,” Karen Beattie, The Growth Faculty Managing Director.
