Highlights from Dermot Crowley Interview
MICROSOFT OUTLOOK AND GOOGLE CALENDAR
are designed to centralise, so why not manage your meetings and tasks together? Block out some tasks as events on your calendar so they’re visible, and you can protect your time.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO DELETE.
One manager had over 129,000 emails in their inbox! Do you keep your kitchen rubbish “just in case”? Get your email down to zero, and file in one folder. Then use the search bar.
People don’t trust that you’ll see their email. So, Send a timely acknowledgement, Set an expectation around When (you’ll get back to them/complete task), Schedule the Action (in your calendar), Hold yourself accountable.
PLAN AT A PERSONAL LEVEL.
Invest time in planning your time as well as your business. Planning needs to be regular, and there needs to be thinking time. Prioritise the activities that add the most value.
on activities that contribute to your 3 critical roles (Dermot’s are “Think, Sell, Deliver”). Colour code your calendar to keep visible how much time you’re spending on your three core areas.
