Ways to use the AI tool, and questions to get you started
To write this article I did what millions of people around the world are doing. I turned to my co-pilot ChatGPT to help me manage my workflow.
ChatGPT is fast becoming the AI crowd favourite. Reuters reports 100 million monthly active users are in conversation with the cutting-edge language model developed by OpenAI.
And why wouldn’t they be? AI tools like ChatGPT can save individuals, employees, and businesses time and money. They also do a great job.
When I requested a hook to draw you, the reader, into this article ChatGPT shot back with:
“Imagine having a 24/7 virtual assistant that can handle customer inquiries, provide personalized recommendations, and assist with complex problem-solving. Meet ChatGPT—an AI-powered conversational agent that is revolutionizing the way businesses interact with their customers.”
It’s not bad, and it took just a few seconds to generate. Fun and helpful. But how do we truly harness AI and ChatGPT to improve our workflow?
Ahead of our July 5 masterclass Mark Pesce – Demystifying and Harnessing the Power of ChatGPT let’s see what the experts and ChatGPT itself say about the matter.
According to a report by McKinsey, AI adoption in business operations has more than doubled in the last three years, with 63% of surveyed companies utilizing AI technologies to improve their competitive advantage. (1)
And HubSpot claims 57% of business professionals say that AI will rival the industrial revolution when it comes to the impact on human productivity. (2)
ChatGPT's versatility extends beyond writing content and automating customer interactions. It can streamline internal processes, such as data analysis, report generation, and content creation. This not only saves time but also enhances productivity by freeing up human resources to focus on more strategic tasks.
According to Accenture, AI technologies like ChatGPT can potentially boost productivity by up to 40%, enabling businesses to achieve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. (3)
Enhancing customer experience
62% of customer support specialists surveyed by HubSpot believe AI/automation tools will have a significant impact on how they do their job in 2023, while close to half say that such tools are important to their day-to-day role. (4)
Providing exceptional customer experience is a top priority for businesses, and ChatGPT will be used more and more for this. ChatGPT can chat to customers in real-time conversations, can address customer queries, offer product recommendations, and provide personalised assistance.
As we’ve seen, ChatGPT (and similar AI tools) is seen as a game-changer in the realm of customer service, marketing, and content creation.
As McKinsey says:
- A software developer can prompt generative AI to create entire lines of code or suggest ways to complete partial lines of existing code.
- A marketing manager can use generative AI to draft various versions of campaign messaging.
- Employees of a manufacturing company can ask a generative AI–based “virtual expert” technical questions about operating procedures.
- A consumer can ask a chatbot questions about how to assemble a new piece of furniture.
ChatGPT’s ability to generate human-like responses and understand context makes useful as a co-pilot to help employees to speed up their service, and for businesses wanting to automate interactions with customers. It can be integrated into existing communication channels, such as chatbots, messaging apps, and websites, seamlessly augmenting customer support teams.
Leveraging data for business insights
Data is literally the lifeblood of AI, and ChatGPT thrives on the availability of structured and unstructured information. By leveraging the vast amounts of data generated by businesses, ChatGPT can extract meaningful insights, identify patterns, and assist in decision-making processes.
As Mark Pesce will explain in his upcoming masterclass, businesses need to exercise caution when feeding ChatGPT with proprietary data.
Yet, used wisely, its ability to analyse customer feedback, market trends, and social media data is helpful for employees in many departments to make data-driven decisions in their bid to gain that competitive edge.
